Construction of a Transitional Tunnel Underway in the Capital’s Metro System
The capital’s metro system is undergoing significant improvements as workers construct a transitional tunnel connecting two operational stations. Specialists from the company «AvtoStrada» are dedicated to this project, operating around the clock without any breaks.
Currently, the relocation of utility communications has been successfully completed. Additionally, the team has begun the demolition of tracks and scaffolding in the emergency section of the tunnel. Efforts are now focused on the installation of a discharge slab and drilling the walls of the ground to prepare for a future concrete barrier.
The challenging soil conditions have prompted the need for further stabilization measures, leading to the implementation of chemical fixation procedures. The entirety of the distressed section of the old tunnel will be dismantled, making way for the construction of a new monolithic tunnel. To ensure enhanced reliability, the existing tunnel structure will be reinforced from the inside using a reinforced concrete shell.
The project plans are backed by the research institute «EnergoProekt,» which provides ongoing support to guarantee the quality and safety of the construction work. As this vital infrastructure project progresses, it promises to improve the overall functionality and safety of the metro system for future commuters.
