Ukraine to Expand Humanitarian Grain Program to Global Regions
Amid ongoing efforts to address global food security concerns, Ukraine is set to broaden its humanitarian grain initiative, known as «Grain from Ukraine,» to various regions around the world. This announcement was made by Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, via his Telegram channel.
Yermak highlighted current negotiations regarding potential grain shipments to countries including Haiti, Chad, Cameroon, Tanzania, Djibouti, and others. He stated, «Our diplomats are actively promoting the ‘Grain from Ukraine’ program on an international level, leveraging both public and digital diplomacy, along with the ‘Together We Rise’ initiative in Nairobi, Kenya.»
Since the fall of 2022, Ukraine has dispatched a substantial 221,410 tons of agricultural products to ten countries across Africa and Asia. This includes 195,000 tons of wheat, 22,265 tons of wheat flour, and 4,141 tons of peas. Such deliveries have significantly contributed to food security for approximately 8 million people around the globe.
Yermak emphasized the mutual benefits of this initiative, stating, «Some of our products are purchased by participant countries. This is a profitable strategy for all parties involved: our international partners bolster the Ukrainian economy while simultaneously improving the food situation worldwide.»
As the situation develops, Ukraine’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in food distribution demonstrates a strategic response to the pressing challenges of global hunger and agricultural sustainability, affirming its role as a vital player in enhancing food security across various regions.
