Ukrainian Pensioners to Benefit from Increased Payments Through Indexation and Supplements

Ukrainian pensioners are set to benefit from a forthcoming increase in their pension payments, thanks to an established system of indexation, recalculation, and special supplements aimed at supporting the elderly population.

Eligibility for Additional Benefits

Certain groups of pensioners are entitled to receive an age-related supplement. To qualify for these additional payments, pensioners must meet specific criteria:

  • Their total monthly pension does not exceed 10,340.35 hryvnias.
  • They are over the age of 70.

It is noteworthy that this supplement is automatically calculated and added to the regular pension each month once the individual reaches the specified age.

Current Rates of Age-Related Supplements

The amount of the age-related supplement varies depending on the pensioner’s age. At present, the rates are as follows:

  • 300 hryvnias for pensioners aged 70 to 74 years,
  • 456 hryvnias for those aged 75 to 79 years,
  • 570 hryvnias for pensioners aged 80 years and older.

Importantly, these supplements do not accumulate; instead, they increase with age. For example, a pensioner who is 78 years old will receive 456 hryvnias, rather than a cumulative total of 756 hryvnias.

With this initiative, the Ukrainian government aims to provide much-needed financial support to its aging citizens, ensuring that they have the resources to live with dignity in their twilight years.
