Heavy Rains Cause Disruptions in Odessa

Severe rainfall has struck Odessa, bringing complications to the coastal city as it experienced an intense downpour in less than a day, accumulating precipitation equivalent to one and a half months’ worth. Continuous rain, which began in the evening, resulted in an impressive total of 42 mm of water, according to meteorological sources such as The Weather Lab.

The Black Sea and Azov Sea Hydrometeorological Center has issued warnings that rainy weather will persist, potentially exacerbating the situation on both the following days. As the rainfall continues, residents brace for possibly further disruptions.

The city council reported that the adverse weather has already led to the downing of 15 trees, some of which fell onto parked vehicles. A significant tree collapse on Gazovoy Lane temporarily obstructed traffic, creating additional challenges for commuters.

In response to the unfolding crisis, eight municipal teams have been mobilized to address the aftermath of the storm. Their efforts include cutting down fallen trees, clearing storm drains, and restoring road access for affected areas. As the city grapples with the effects of this extreme weather, the community remains hopeful for a swift recovery.
