Israel Condemns ICC’s Intent to Issue Arrest Warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu
Israel has expressed vehement opposition to the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to seek an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid are urging leaders of the free world to denounce this provocative action.
In response to the prosecutor’s announcement, Lapid labeled the decision as «unacceptable» and a «reckless attack» on the victims of the October 7 terrorist attacks and the hostages held in Gaza. He emphasized that while Hamas continues to commit crimes against humanity, the prosecutor’s actions unjustly equate Israeli leaders with terrorists, calling it a historical disgrace.
To combat the ICC’s decision, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a special operational center aimed at countering what officials see as a move that restricts Israel’s ability to defend itself. Furthermore, Lapid plans to reach out to foreign ministers of major nations, urging them to condemn the prosecutor’s ruling and to refrain from acting on any directives against Israeli leaders.
As tensions continue to escalate, Israel is rallying international support to protect its leadership from what it perceives as a bias-laden judicial initiative, reinforcing its narrative of defending national sovereignty against perceived injustices.
