Criminal Scheme Uncovered in Rivne Region Involving Sale of Fake Military Medical Deferment Documents
In a recent operation, law enforcement agencies, including the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office, have dismantled a criminal scheme that involved the sale of counterfeit documents certifying individuals as unfit for military service.
Authorities have identified two residents of Dubno, aged 46 and 38, as the masterminds behind the operation. Investigations revealed that these individuals deceived citizens into paying them substantial sums in exchange for their supposed influence over the medical commission responsible for issuing these deferment certificates.
The suspects were charging approximately 7,000 USD for fraudulent medical examination results and procedures. They lured potential clients by promising them legitimate documentation to avoid military conscription.
Law enforcement operatives apprehended the duo in the act of receiving their latest payment, effectively putting an end to their illicit activities. The authorities emphasized the seriousness of this offense, underlining the detrimental impact such schemes have not only on the integrity of the military enlistment process but on the trust of citizens in public institutions.
Further investigations are ongoing as officials seek to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify any additional individuals who may have been involved in facilitating this criminal enterprise. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement to combat fraud and uphold the rule of law in the country.
