New Bicycle Patrol Service Launched in Kyiv

A new bicycle patrol service has been launched by the municipal guard in Kyiv, enhancing safety and security in the city’s streets and parks, including the popular Trukhaniv Island and the Partisan Glory Park.

Sergei Chernyshev, the director of the municipal guard, highlighted that if the patrols prove effective, there is potential for expanding their number in the larger parks of Kyiv. The initiative aims to increase public safety and provide a quick response to incidents within the urban green spaces.

One notable success since the bicycle patrols began occurred when officers rapidly located a four-year-old boy who had gone missing while riding his bike in Partisan Glory Park. The child had strayed away from his mother and became lost in the park’s dense overgrowth, which posed a significant danger as he headed towards a wooded area, complicating efforts to find him.

In a remarkable display of efficiency, the municipal guard members located the boy within just ten minutes and safely returned him to his relieved mother. This incident underscores the patrols’ timely response capabilities and highlights their potential to enhance overall public safety in Kyiv’s parks and recreational areas.
