In May 2024, water quality issues detected in Kramatorsk

In May 2024, significant deviations in sanitary-chemical and microbiological indicators were detected in the water bodies of Kramatorsk. This information was reported by the Kramatorsk district branch of the State Administration «Donetsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health».

In the city of Kramatorsk, two permanent observation points were set up on the Kazenny Torets River: in the area of the «Bernatsky Garden» park, which marks the entrance to the city, and the «Yasnogirivsky» point, which characterizes the exit from the city. In addition to the Kazenny Torets River, there are reservoirs in the city such as the Vasilivska Pustosh settlement reservoir, Mayachkivske reservoir, and Veselivsky pond.

According to the research results in May 2024, sanitary-chemical indicators were studied in 5 water samples from the aforementioned water bodies, with 5 deviations (100%) being registered at the observation points on the Kazenny Torets River — in the «Bernatsky Garden» park area and the «Yasnogirivsky» point, as well as in the Vasilivska Pustosh settlement reservoir, Mayachkivske reservoir, and Veselivsky pond, concerning sulfate, dry residue, chemical oxygen demand, magnesium, 5-day biological oxygen demand, and dissolved oxygen indicators.

Microbiological indicators were studied in 5 water samples from the water bodies, with 2 deviations (40%) being registered for lactose-positive coliform bacteria at the observation points in the «Bernatsky Garden» park area and the «Yasnogirivsky» point.
