Ukraine’s wine map has been enriched with a new geographical indication — «Zakarpattia/Transcarpathian Wine». This was announced by the CEO of the corporation «Ukrvinprom» Volodymyr Kucherenko on his Facebook.

«This recognition emphasizes the enormous potential of Ukrainian winemaking and becomes a new milestone in its history. We preserve traditions, develop, and strive for new heights in the global wine community!» he wrote.

The geographical indication indicates that this wine is produced in a specific region with unique geographical characteristics, such as climate, soils, and local features. This gives the wine a unique taste and aroma typical of this territory, as well as protects the product from counterfeiting.

Ukraine also has other products with geographical indications, such as Hutsul sheep and cow cheese, and Melitopol cherries.
