The delay in Western military aid has allowed Russian forces to begin an offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region, posing a threat to Kharkiv.
The situation is extremely serious. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a comment to ABC News on Thursday, May 16.
«We cannot afford to lose Kharkiv,» Zelensky emphasized.
The journalist asked the president if the United States is to blame for what is happening in the Kharkiv region.
«The whole world is to blame for this. They gave Putin the opportunity to occupy. But now the world can help,» the Ukrainian leader replied.
In his opinion, two additional Patriot systems would be enough to prevent Russia from occupying Kharkiv.
When asked about the concerns of many Americans about the amount of money being spent on Ukraine’s needs, Zelensky noted that these funds do not go directly to Ukraine.
«This money goes to American factories, creating jobs in the United States. We are not just fighting for our freedom. If it weren’t for Ukraine, it would be a different country,» Zelensky reassured.
