Shakhtar Donetsk: A Top Performer in the Transfer Market
For a long time it has been known that Shakhtar Donetsk is one of the leading clubs in Ukraine when it comes to transfer market operations. They are known for their talent in finding, developing and successfully selling players over several seasons. However, the fact that Shakhtar Donetsk is among the top 20 clubs in the world in terms of transfer revenue over the last 10 seasons is truly impressive.
According to data from the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES), Shakhtar Donetsk ranks 16th in the list of the best clubs in the world in terms of transfer revenue. The list includes representatives from 24 countries (19 of them from Europe), whose deal volumes over the last five seasons amounted to 100 million euros or more. It is worth noting that no other Ukrainian club meets this criterion.
Over the last five seasons, Shakhtar Donetsk has made a total of 311 million euros in transfer deals. And in the last 10 seasons alone, the club has earned 160 million euros from transfer operations.
The best transfer performance belongs to Benfica with a net income of 732 million euros over the last 10 seasons. This is almost twice as much as Ajax, which takes second place with earnings of 434 million euros over a similar period. The top three is rounded out by Monaco with transfer revenue of 421 million euros.
