Survivor of Russian Captivity Returns Home
After two years in Russian captivity, Mariana Chechelyuk, an investigator from Mariupol National Police, has finally returned home, as reported by «Life.pravda».
A Harrowing Tale of Survival
Chechelyuk and her younger sister endured captivity during the full-scale war, hiding from shelling at the Azovstal plant. They were later captured by the Russians and separated in a filtration camp, with Chechelyuk ending up in Donetsk SIZO before being transferred to prisons in Taganrog and Mariupol.
Testimony of a Mother
Mariana’s mother spoke of the horrors her daughter endured — torture, hunger, and beatings. The poor conditions in captivity led to serious health issues, including chronic bronchitis and other illnesses.
