Water Services Tariff Increase Proposed in Kyiv

In a significant move that could impact households across the region, Kyiv’s public utility company, Kyivvodokanal, has proposed a dramatic increase in tariffs for centralized water supply and sewage services. The recommendation, submitted to the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities, outlines plans to double the current rates over a specified period.

Under the proposed changes, as of April, the cost for centralized water supply for households would rise to 17.57 UAH per cubic meter, excluding VAT. The charge for centralized sewage services would also see an increase, reaching 16.41 UAH per cubic meter, bringing the total combined cost to 33.98 UAH per cubic meter without VAT. Including VAT, the total would amount to 40.78 UAH per cubic meter.

The second phase of the tariff adjustment is slated for July, further elevating the cost for domestic water supply to 21.42 UAH per cubic meter and sewage services to 17.66 UAH per cubic meter. This would result in a total of 39.08 UAH per cubic meter before VAT, or 46.90 UAH per cubic meter with VAT included.

The proposed tariffs reflect broader trends in rising operational costs and aim to ensure the sustainability and reliability of water services in the capital. As discussions on these changes unfold, residents and local stakeholders are bracing for the potential financial implications.
