Ukraine to Gradually Increase Gas and Electricity Tariffs for Energy Sector Stability

According to the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine should gradually increase gas and electricity tariffs after the war to ensure the stability of the energy sector.

«To ensure system stability and reduce fiscal risks, it is necessary to gradually raise gas and electricity tariffs to cover costs, including through adequate resources to support vulnerable population groups,» the document states.

It is noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine must approve a roadmap for the gradual liberalization of gas and electricity markets, based on a technical analysis of the financial situation of the industry, agreed with the European Commission.

Earlier, it was reported on the need to comply with European standards and liberalize the Ukrainian energy market for full integration with the European energy market.
