Prices for Fish on the Rise in Ukraine
Recent analysis from the «Minfin» portal reveals a notable increase in fish prices across major retail chains in Ukraine. The surge is evident in the first month of summer, with various fish products experiencing significant price hikes.
For instance, the cost of live carp has risen to 174 hryvnias per kilogram, up from the previous price of 167.36 hryvnias. Additionally, the cleaning of carp now costs 204 hryvnias per kilogram, reflecting a substantial increase in processing costs.
The price of lightly salted herring has also seen an uptick, climbing from 157.74 hryvnias to 164.33 hryvnias per kilogram. Similarly, the price for fresh-frozen mackerel has increased to 139 hryvnias per kilogram, marking a rise from the earlier price of 136.86 hryvnias.
Experts suggest that several factors could be contributing to this trend, including fluctuations in supply and demand, increased operational costs for fishing enterprises, and broader economic conditions. As Ukraine navigates these challenges, consumers will need to adapt to the changing prices in the seafood market, which could impact dietary choices and household budgets. Retailers are expected to monitor this price shift and respond accordingly to maintain competitiveness in a volatile market.
