Incident of Cruelty to Animals in Lubny
Yesterday, on June 14, in the city of Lubny, not far from a residential building, residents witnessed a horrifying scene as a man attempted to get rid of a dog using violent methods. After a local resident reported to the police around 7:30 pm, a police investigative team from Lubny immediately arrived at the scene along with forensic specialists and a veterinarian.
According to preliminary investigation data, a 34-year-old local resident used an unknown substance to dispose of the dog and then tried to bury it alive near the house. Thanks to the quick reaction of citizens who reported to the police, the animal was saved. Currently, veterinarians are providing the necessary assistance to the dog.
The Lubny police have registered this incident with the qualifying features of Article 299, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Cruelty to animals) in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations. Investigative actions are ongoing on this matter.
