The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine introduces new rules for amateur fishing
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has made amendments to the Rules of amateur fishing aimed at preserving aquatic resources and ecosystems. This was reported by the State Agency for Development of Irrigation, Fisheries and Food Programs.
The updated Rules include the definition of «deterioration of the habitat of aquatic resources» and establish obligations for amateur fishermen to avoid such deterioration. In particular, it is prohibited to wash vehicles in water bodies and their protective zones, discharge untreated sewage, engage in unauthorized extraction of gravel and sand, as well as logging near waterways.
These changes were made to bring the Rules in line with the legislation of Ukraine, including the Law «On Wildlife» and the Law «On Fisheries, Industrial Fishing and Protection of Aquatic Resources».
The updated Rules came into effect on June 28, 2024, and aim to ensure the preservation and improvement of the habitat conditions of aquatic resources.
