The CEO of Vivat Publishing House, Yulia Orlova, has called on the Ukrainian and international community to support Ukrainian publishing following Russia’s missile strike on the «Factor-Druck» printing house in Kharkiv. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing Orlova’s appeal.
Yulia Orlova emphasized that «Factor-Druck» is one of the largest printing complexes in Eastern Europe, where the majority of Ukrainian publishers print their books.
«This is an important enterprise for the entire publishing cycle. The cessation of its work can seriously affect the entire sphere of publishing in Ukraine, as textbooks, children’s literature, books about war, language, and history were printed here,» Orlova noted.
Vivat calls on the Ukrainian and international community to spread information about this tragedy and the Russian destruction of Ukrainian books and culture. The publishing house has reached out to international media, diplomatic services, and organizations to support Ukraine.
«We are witnessing the destruction of European values and a demonstration of the low level of development of Russian society. This tragedy will not leave any resident of the civilized world indifferent, as the destruction of books leads to the decline of morality in society. Spread this information, help Ukraine fight,» the appeal stated.
Orlova emphasizes that supporting Ukrainian publishing and culture can be done by ending cooperation with Russian structures, raising awareness about Russian crimes against Ukraine, especially against cultural heritage, and sending donations to the Ukrainian army and charitable organizations supporting those affected by the conflict.
