The Government is Working on Mechanism for Restoration of Multi-Apartment Buildings

The government and parliament of Ukraine are actively working on creating a mechanism that will allow not only the restoration of individual apartments and private houses of citizens, but also multi-apartment buildings where, for example, common areas have been affected.

This was announced by the head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on the organization of state power, local self-government, regional development and urban planning, as well as the head of the «Servant of the People» party, Olena Shuliak, during her speech at the Regional Leadership Forum.

«If a multi-apartment building itself has been damaged or even destroyed, i.e. common areas have been affected, housing certificates ‘e-Recovery’ will unfortunately not help its residents. Capital repairs of such buildings are needed here, for which separate algorithms are required,» explained the member of parliament.

According to her, just a month ago, the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine began the procedures for creating a new resolution regarding the implementation of capital repairs of damaged multi-apartment buildings. International partners may soon join the funding of this process, she added.

«The World Bank has already provided us with almost 200 million dollars for the program of capital repairs of multi-apartment buildings. Furthermore, the Council of Europe Development Bank is currently allocating 100 million euros for housing certificates. Therefore, I am confident that we will find funds for the program of capital repairs of multi-apartment buildings. In particular, by involving funds from the Reserve Fund. We also hope for the assistance of our international partners,» Shuliak added.
