The construction of a transfer tunnel in the capital’s metro
The specialists from the company «Avtostrada» are working tirelessly to construct a transfer tunnel between two operating stations of the capital’s metro. The work is ongoing around the clock, with no days off.
Progress on the construction site
The relocation of utilities has been successfully completed, and dismantling of the tracks and scaffolding at the emergency section has commenced. The installation of a unloading plate and drilling walls in the ground for the future concrete wall formation are in progress.
Challenges and solutions
Due to the complicated soils, additional stabilization is required. Therefore, a chemical fixing process is planned. The emergency section of the old tunnel will be completely dismantled, and a new monolithic tunnel will be constructed.
The old tunnel will be reinforced from the inside with a reinforced concrete jacket to ensure its durability. The project decisions are supported by the scientific research institute «Enerhoproekt» to ensure the quality and safety of the construction work.
